    Default Coil change time.

Got tired of having to pull the DIS coils off the VC when I wanted to change the spark plugs, not easy when in a hurry.

So I decided to make the change and mount them next to the catch can, really only place I could put them. Then use spark plug wires over to the VC.

A little prep work to get the car running again and so that its ready once the new built trasnsmission is finished.

    Coils on the VC

Now with them mounted near the catch can.

    Spark plug wires.

Still need to put on some wire seperators and paint the mounting brackets. Just glad to be able to just swap spark plugs in a hurry again. Plus now I can put one of my CF coil covers back on the VC.

looks real good i like the idea. taking off coils can sometimes be a pain espcially when you doing it all the time. were you previously having a problem with melting the coils with the top mount turbo?

No, never had a problem melting stock coils and I ran the ATW coils for about 6 years with the top mounted turbo setup.

Cryo/heat treated gears/input shaft, plus a machine shop is working on making a cuff that will take the place of 5th gear.

You are getting rid of 5th gear?

The new coils look nice. Did you fab that all up yourself or does someone sell that set-up?

It is the 034 DIS coils and their bracket kit. I had to add another bracket on the left side to hold their bracket to the tower and a tall strap from the battery tray bolt on the firewall to hold the other end.

These coils and this bracket kit from 034.

Yes I am getting rid of 5th gear completely. This shop does cuff setups for the honda transmissions when used for drag racing.

I like that coil set-up, Mike. Good job.

When are you going to the track next? Waiting for the trans to be rebuilt?

I was hoping to get it to the track this month, but that isn't going to happen now. The guy that was working on my transmission just called to tell me that he doesn't have the time since his job just got very busy.

Now I need to find someone else to rebuild my transmission for me. Time to call up Matt.
