tip-tronic in trouble

so the car does not shift into tip. it goes into the position but shifts by itself like normal. nothing lights up on speedo either about tip tronic just regular prnd432

Do you have a VAGcom to scan for any codes stored under transmission?

Don't quote me on this but there like the magnet things that are triggered when you put the car in tiptronic I hear they slip out of place sometimes... they sit right under the shift lever area. I believe I read that on az at somepoint very common with the c5 A6's.

it doesent appear to have any codes for trans but i will def double check, i have a snap on solus pro, which can do miracles like disable electronic parking brakes and stuff. So ill give that a try,and i posted on audizine also but no replies yet

Justin might be right on this one! Ive read about this on AZ b4 also, very common problem and easy to find out if this is causing the problem!

this couple be a couple isssues. it could be your prndl control as stated a missing magnet or your tiptronic switch or your tcm. without measuring value blocks and some diag theres no knowing.

i found the magnet today, but no crazy glue so i didnt glue it yet. Changed cam position sensor, so it revs and everything just fine compared to sometimes it wouldnt even give me gas or w.e Now i have a vacuum leak somewhere, so i gotta bring out my smoke machiene to check it out where its coming from. Anyway i started cleaning interior at like 9 and finished at 4 =( fml.


Can anyone tell me whats the noise at the end of the revs? Its like a metal on metal chattering =-(

To be honest man I can't hear shit haha. You seem to have focused the camera on the Cat/Turbo Area is that where the noise seems to be coming from? What RPM's does the noise become noticeable? Possible shaft play in the turbo (but thats taking a stab in the dark)?

hm, well its like right there honestly, its sometime after 2k rpms, thats exactly what i thought too. Hm, honestly that could be it, im not sure though, can it still be it if its only at the end of each rev?

check your power steering fluid level. does it only happen when free revving the motor??

maybe power steering pump,turbo,trans. not enough to go on bud.

i dont know about when driving it because its not registered or anything. Its definately not the trans, its probably the turbo, which kinda makes me happy, cuz ko4 will be the upgrade if anything. Or maybe even gtxxxx

If its only happening after like 2k I am thinking that its gotta be something more Turbo System related? DV going bad?

im not 100% sure honestly, but i most likely will be tomorrow. need to fix some boost leaks other bits.
Need to do brakes because those things are shittaay. Check all fluids and probably need to do like a fuel flush, idk how long its been standing!

W/e 04.5 GLI says is probably best to listen to him (car wise). How do you know you have boost leaks?

its boost/vacuum leak, because when you hit the gas and it comes back down it drops tooooo low and has a rough idle for a seccond.

I just thought of something else for that noise. How about a shitty cat? could def be it! Need to check all that out.

Feel free to pm me about some B5 mods man. I've done a good amount of research myself. 04.5 can help more with diagnosing problems but I think I can help a little with some mods if you have any questions as to which companies to go with etc...
