I am once again considering dropping the 2005 for a 2002...
I can probably snag $24k for the current ride and pick up a B5 for about $10k with less than 60k mikes on it..

I went B7 to a B5, that lasted about 2 weeks, then I had another B6. B5's are fun, but if you want to trade, sell you car for the $24k and shop around, you can get a B6 with 70k miles for under $17k.

I still have the B6 and a B5 and if the B6 was running I would still choose to drive the B5, boost is so intoxicating. I really don't miss driving the B6 that much

your B6 experience has been awful though. If we all listened to your tale of woe (which you love to tell for some reason), we'd abandon the platform/brand forever.
wait...you can sell a 2005 for 24k? Wow. I thought the market was quite different. Pretty crazy that JHM picked up their shop car at an auction for $10,000 only a year ago. 2005 with 105,000 miles and 'engine trouble' that turned out to be $50 of coil packs and spark plugs.
Dunno skarekrow...you could certainly keep going back in time and finding cheaper, faster cars if your #1 goal is straight line speed. I mean why bother with the B5...get a UR with a 2.2 turbo and make some REAL power...nevermind a 400whp K04 B5.
At some point you'll say WAIT...do I need those extra 100-200 hp? At the expense of a car I enjoy on a daily basis? because when you really think about it, you drive your car at 4/10ths 95% of the time.

never really thought about this until I read this thread. The thing to me about boost is its incredibly fun (if properly setup) from my experience driving quite a few boosted cars (never owned one). Those moments where you feel the turbos spool follwed by a surge of power reminds me of being on a roller coaster that shoots off from a dead stop (king da ka six flags NJ). Torquey all motor cars like ours just have a comfortable natural feeling power that I have a hard time describing.
Ive always been an NA guy because to me the term naturally aspirated has true meaning. Turbo cars are still fun though no doubt.

having owned a pretty high pressure turbo'd car (22.5 psi) and now the v8, it's def close.. the turbo is a lottttt of fun, can't imagine two (even if they were smaller).
my uncle's 335xi is fun, but not as fun as my s4 even though it's faster.

meh, boost is overated. ive done it three times while owning my b6. urs4, urs6, and turbo mk1 rabbit and each time i run back to my b6. i hate lag, its pointless, a good, high revving NA motor is the best way to go. we have power everywhere. i hate downshifting going up a hill. i hate waiting for power. my corrado was my favorite forced induction car (lysholm stage 5) because it had power everywhere

nope, it was a g60. bahn brenner lysholm conversion with custom Bahn Brenner Stage 5 software which wasnt available to the public. it was stupid aggressive, running 22 psi. the torque steer was retarded on that thing, i loved wrestling with it. it would roast tires through 3rd and i could chirp 4th. :bang:

so, here we are a few months on...any changes in your thoughts? I'd just go do it...if you're not happy and feel like there's more in it for you in the other car, by all means go do it. $24,000 if you can get it for your B6 is an amazing price. It will go a long way towards a well sorted stage III B5 S4.
