Version 2 of the pulley (the last pictures) weigh in at 1250 grams .
The material used is 2014 duraluminium.

I am interested but only if you can get it to around 750 or 800 gramms. 1.6KG is simply not enough of a gain for me to warrant the installation costs, shipping and so on. Does the material not have enough strength that you can actually remove material from inside the wheel?
Mate I seriously doubt you`ll feel the difference from 1.2 kg to 750 grams or even 500grams for that matter. Most of the weight has already been shed. Removing more material will just raise production cost , gains will be minimal at best.
Send me an email with your adress and I`ll see if the cost for shipping to you is the same as to the us then you don`t have to pay shipping.
Yeah I can probably machine it to 300-400 grams but really I mean really are you going to see the difference? Are you an all out racer? Do you know what effect that will have on crank bearings? Sure the pulley is not a harmonic damper anymore but the fact that it still has some inertia will even out the power spikes.

Ok so 2 are still in stock, you won`t have to wait for them to get machined.
Anodizing is unfortunately too much trouble for me. Price isn`t that big to make much of a difference but having to wait a week for the shop to round up enough parts to be serviced is not on my list of acceptable.
I`m sure you can get them anodized locally .
Shipping takes about 3-4 working days which was a pleasant surprise.

I do have it on my car .Have had it for about 500km so far .
No issues have ocurred so far because of the pulley but I do seem to have a streak of bad luck . Last week my pressure plate bolts unscrewed themselves so obviously it was a tranny off job. This week took my old man for a drive and he blew the clutch trying to remember his golden days (dad hasn`t driven a manual in 1 and a half years) so yeah I`m pissed.
I`ve obviously had time to inspect crank pulley for issues and everything else surrounding the pulley (idler pulley, tensioner) all are in good shape and nothing EBIL (evil lol) has been noticed .
Oh well , I`ll have to scrap plans for stasis MS and get a new clutch.
Doing another rs4 today , stage 2 tune and fitting a lw pulley .

I have been speaking about this with my father for a while now and I trust his judgment. After building cars for Porsche for the last 35 years I think he knows what he is doing

He agrees that anything less than 1KG is probably not beneficial and the inertia of the spinning wheel actually helps reduce those power spikes you mentioned. However there is a big difference in rotational mass when you look at 1000G versus 1250G. As to feeling the difference? I do not think you feel a difference between 1250 and 1000 but you can probably easily measure it.

All in all I will simply wait and see what further develops. I know JHM is bringing out some new parts in the second half of the year and I am sure others will follow. We shall see what the average weight reductions are the shops are aiming for.

    Hello,
Thank you for your interest !
You realize that over one year has passed since the last reply in this thread, right ?
I`ve since moved on from manufacturing these but I may still have one lying around. Alternatively you cold ask Manohlos , he should have one as well.

I`m not going to invest anymore time or efforts into manufacturing parts for the rs4 b7 platform .

1k for a Flywheel + clutch package is not that much tbh. You better get used to the luxury tax (the tax you have to pay everytime you buy parts for your rs4 ) .
I`ve owned and used (to be read abused) the jhm f/w package and I can tell you it`s a sound option.

    Cheers !

thanks for the response, i would appreciate it if you wouldnt mind see if you have one laying around for me to purchase. I too underdstand how much work it is for you as a plenum/throttlebody spacers are not available for my previous car (nissan 370z). So i made the program and cnc 'ed some out of phenolic. It was a LOT of effort to complete. But not i am the only person with some and ill will be testing themm soon on a dyno. The RS tax make the "Z" tax soooo much nicer. Sorry not everybody owns a mustang/camaro, lol.

What's the exact material? What's the wall thickness at the center of the wheel.

Oh wow . This is getting some attention .
The aluminium used was some kind of aerospace grade alloy . Vibration and heat resistant . I forget which series ( think it was 70 or 20 series like 7075 or 2014 ) .

The wall thickness at the center of the disc is the same as oem ! I did not want to take chances on how deep the threads are in the crankshaft.

The steps in design were : make an exact copy of the oem wheel (took measurements with cnc) , remove as much material as possible considering the loads on the disc at 8250 rpm and finally decide on the order of the machining steps .

First batch of pulleys left them slightly off-balance due to machining steps so they had to be balanced afterwards .
Second batch left them balanced (or well enough balanced) so that they didn`t need to be balanced afterwards (no holes lol ).

That`s where I stopped. I managed to get the R&D costs out of this but that was about it.
Material was very expensive to the point that it was half of the price of the part.
Please read the material from BHS on crankshaft balancing. It`s posted somewhere in this thread.
I did about 15k km with the pulley on before I sold the car. The next owner did about 10k and had no problems.
