That makes sense. LOL at the B8 comment!
So when I went on Saturday, I got there about 5 mins before track opening. It was $30 once I'd convinced them I hadn't just come to watch! I'm guessing they don't get many wagons. There was a handful of track cars actually testing and tuning and I was the only street legal. I went straight to tech (no line up) then the guy was like you might as well line up and things started. Not busy at all, I never had to wait to get a run in. I left about 1300 as I had to meet someone but I got a bunch of runs in.
They're on the NHRA circuit now as well (
Drag Racing - St. Thomas Dragway - St. Thomas Raceway - Ontario Drag Racing - Sparta Drags - Dragway Park - Pro Modified - Street Legal - Jet Cars - Funny Cars - Racing News - St. Thomas Raceway Park) so I assume they're "certified"? The track is nice enough, there's somewhere to get a bacon sandwich. Can't remember the deal with fuel. People that run it are really nice and the marshal at the start line gave feedback and encouragement. They went out of their way to make sure I had a good time amongst all of the full time racers.
I don't know what to look for in the surface itself - I guess it was good as I had no problem launching on my summers and there were plenty of burnouts going on. There's less space all round vs Cayuga. "Street legal" night is Fridays 6pm-10pm (not sure about Canada Day) and T&T is 11-4 on a Saturday.
Canada Day is good for me if they're open, not the 2nd or 9th though as working. Maybe mid-July?
