    Default New owner 2004 S4

hello everyone. Just became the owner of a "new to me " 2004 audi S4. manual transmission. 110k miles.moro blue. The mileage may seem high, but I did alot of research, and the vehicle has service records so I feel good about it.( the fact that it will be in Germany in few weeks(lower cost of parts? Actual use of vehicle capabilities on Autobahn) were also factors in the purchase. Will post pics as soon as I figure out how lol

Very nice! Would love to see some pictures of it. Did you get it shipped over to Germany from the US or did you buy it abroad?

Where in Germany are you located? I've done the same with also a Moro Blue S4! My car is arriving by container this Thursday from Bremen to Munich.

Unfortunately not yet with any clubs, my German is shit at the moment. I do have a friend of a friend in the Munich acrea who is a mechanic. I don't know his background or experience yet, but when I do find that out I can give you a heads up. I just had a shit ton of aftermarket work done so I'm not looking at any major maintenance.

I'm still in the works around securing some sort of insurance. Apparently if you can provide your insurance history (letter of experience) from the US and there were no accidents or tickets you can pay dramatically less on your car insurance.

Have you had any headaches dealing with the authorities here in regards to conversions and whatnot? Especially around TUV?

How's been opening your car up on the Autobahn?

yeah...my german is shit as well( I just got here a few months ago). I only know of one tuner shop and a volksawgen/audi repair shop around here. From the info I gathered, they seem pretty good( my buddy had ALOT of work done to his 335i at the tuner shop). As far as inurance, I am in the military, so I kept my previous insurance( pretty good rate...then again I am in the "30+plus no accident/traffic ticket club...)The same goes with the VAT (haven't had to deal with it due to being in the military). As far as opening it up on the autobahn, my car isn't here yet...but I was able to drive my buddies heavily modified e92 335i and another buddies e60 550i( both american spec)...VERY NICE. I took the A6 all the way from Nuremberg to Mannheim and I was flying the whole time( I was going at 100-110 mph on average at times going up to 140 on some straight strectches when there was minimal trafiic)

    Weah,

Wait til you need to get an oil change here. I'm kicking myself for not doing it when I needed to in the US. 10L of the black gold here can easily set you back ~160Euros

Everything I've ever seen in Europe related to cars is hella expensive compared to the USA.

    Have no idea why...

In Germany, taxes are the big one (19% VAT). Anything automotive appears to be very costly and you have pay your way to drive starting from just getting your drivers license. There are taxes on engine size and emission, costs for testing the vehicle which has to happen every 2 years, and probably some more hidden dingers that I haven't stumbled on too yet.

As of right now, not trying to derail the original topic, but I'm battling with the testing agency with all my aftermarket modifications. They want certifications for everything they spot checked when I brought my car in for its first test. Worst case scenario, I can't drive my S4 because they won't clear my aftermarket parts as "safe".

If you're in the military you can get around this, but I haven't found any topics around civvy's bringing a heavily modded aftermarket car yet and the process they went to get through this damn test!!

    In my siggy

JHM BBK . JHM Stage 4 Clutch . JHM LWFW . JHM LW Rotors . JHM 4:1 Center Diff. . Apikol Rear Diff . Stasis Ohlins SL . Fast Intentions DP and X-pipe Resonated Cat Back . 6000K HIDs . Neuspeed RSe07 Gunmetal

I'm right now having major problems with TUV and getting my car past the German certification process. I put up a topic on Audizine's Western Europe section about this.

I've got the car at the Audi dealership now and the head mechanic is looking at it end of today and tomorrow. Our convo seemed promising as he himself has a new RS3 where he's modded the turbo, chipped the car, and looking to add an aftermarket exhaust. Based on that, we seemed to be on the same ground when it comes to TUV. He looked at my car and said his biggest concern is the BBK and how the lines and fluid are joined.

If you're looking to do some work, it seems according to him Milltek is the way to go to get past the German TUV issues. But if you're in the military, I don't think you need to worry. And at that point, I would go JHM. I've updated the AZ thread w/ more details.
