Default FI Exhaust and DP first impression

Just had 2.5" FI down pipes and catback exhaust installed and the results are awesome. The responsiveness improved dramatically and the soundis incredible. In the low end RPMs (<2000) there is alittle drone but tolerable and quickly disappears in the upper RPMs. The fit and finish was
excellent and the polished tips look great. Well worth the money. Now with the increase feel in performance I'm questioning if I really need the JHM and would i notice a difference? In a couple of weeks I will get the car back on the dyno to see the increase vs. stock.

I loved my FI downpipes and Labree catback that i had installed on my car for a whole day. The sound was incredible and it really woke up the car. Unfortunately that night was when the S4 was totaled so i didn't get to enjoy them that long.

The tune will wake the car up even more. Definitely worth the money no questions asked.

The FI exhaust is such a well crafted piece. People fail to realize the the deal they are actually getting with one of these until they explore different brands. The FI exhaust is what, 12 feet long? Stainless steel and high quality all for less than $1,500 shipped. Take for example the E46 M3, you can barely get a MUFFLER for that price. A quality exhaust for a 996 is four times the amount of the FI piece. In the end the S4 exhaust is really a good value when you take into account other pieces for different brands.

I don't have an S4 but hope to get one. Would it be worth it to just get a FI cat back non resonated x-pipe and keep the stock downpipes?

Sure it will be an improvement, but to take full advantage of the 2.5" catback you would want to get 2.5" downpipes to match. At the very least I think most people here would recommend gutting your pre cats (piggies). If you want a performance gain you can really feel, you probably need to get a tune as well.

Thanks for your input. I am still in school and was thinking of a relatively easy installation that would improve sound and then to maybe go down the aftermarket dp road later.

Get the JHM tune. You won't understand what a difference it makes until you have it. Trust me, it's the real deal.
