Default 2005 S4 B6 New owner - codes after maintenance

I bought a 2005 S4 about a month ago. No service lights on when I got the car. Pulled nicely. Had some vibration in the seat.

It ran fine until I just changed the serp belt and snub mount along with valve cover gasket kits, plugs and coils.

The car is acting like it is limp home mode (had a Benz that did this, but not sure if the Audi does the same thing)
It is now throwing the following codes:
16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
    P0102 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
17800 - Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163): Open Short to Plus
    P1392 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
17746 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Open or Short to Plus
    P1338 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
18041 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185): Signal too Low
    P1633 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

Before doing the above the only engine code was the following:
18613 - Performance Malfunction in Cooling System
    P2181 - 008 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON

I think this was a result of one of the first few days I had the car where the temp guage was not reading. I bought a coolant temp sensor as a potential fix.

Prior to this, I did the following:
    Oil/filter change
    Cabin filter change
Cleaned and oiled existing K&N air filter (wondering if this messed up the MAF and is resulting in other codes as I've read the K&N oil messes up the MAF)

    Items left on my list:
    PCV valve
    Fuel filter
Figure out where vibration is coming from. Seems to be there when car is not moving so it may be misfiring or something.

    Any help and/or suggestions appreciated.

    Eric

    Eric,

Did you plug the connector for the MAF back into the MAF housing?

Good question...and yes, I even pulled it offf..put it back on....removed the tub (not the actual sensor as I didn't have the security torx bit) sprayed it with some MAF cleaner, let it dry, put it back...same thing

Was about to do some test readings, but have to look up specs.

I also have another MAF on the way.

Perhaps you aggravated the sensor when you pulled it off and sprayed it down with cleaner. Let us know if anything changes with a new MAF

Got the new MAF, replaced it AND reconnected the harness. Same fault codes:
18041 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185): Signal too Low
    P1633 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded
17800 - Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163): Open Short to Plus
    P1392 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded
17746 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Open or Short to Plus
    P1338 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded
16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
    P0102 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded

Shouldn't there be some sort of resistance between certain pins on the MAF if you have it off the car and test with a multimeter?

Silly question, but i take it you cleared the old codes before you scanned it again?

    Yes, cleared the codes.

Could it be a fuse or relay that is connected to the MAF and cam sensors?

    Default The curious saga continues

On my whim of thinking it was a fuse, I opened up the fuse box and curiously there is a screw at the top of the fuse area that looks like it should have a ground wire connected to it. Instead, there is some electrical tape with what looks like a broken/cut wire with what looks like the other end of the wire (it is red so that made me more curious if it was connected to ground) with some electrical tape on it....it's fairly taught if you pull it to where it looks like it WAS connected.

I want to connect it up, but am hesitant as I don't know where the other end of the wire goes.

A previous owner to me put an aftermarket radio in so I'm guessing the wiring may have been mucked up then.

    Default MAF testing

The ground wire that I discovered that was not connected seems to be for the aftermarket radio...I reconnected it, but still get the same codes.

I want to test voltages/resistances at the MAF connector, but can't find any info on it.

Does anyone have a procedure for such?
