    Default 2005 A4 Ultrasport

    Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

So I'm looking at getting into a new car and getting rid of my Talon Tsi. One of the cars I've found, and had my eye on somewhat, is this Black 2005 1.8T A4 Ultrasport . I'm a complete Newb to the German scene. Are/is there anything in particular to watch out for with these cars or look for problem wise (other than the typical car maintenance stuff i.e. timing belt, brakes, etc)? The car is kinda high mileage-ish at 93K (Well not too bad, that's like 12K a year). If/when I do buy a new car (any car) I plan on keeping it for a very very long time.

The price is outside of my cash payment range, so I would be taking out a small loan if I decide to pull the trigger. I don't want to have a loan out on a car, then have to plunk down some serious loot on things I should have known about before hand.

    Where are you located?

The timing belt is the big issue. The water pump should also be changed out with the timing belt. Vacuum lines tend to rot and break. Find someone in your area with a VAG-COM when you check out the car and have them do a full scan. It's a code reader specifically made for Audis and VW's. Maintenance can be expensive. The more you can do yourself, the better off you'll be. Fortunately there are quite a few sites with discounted parts.

I absolutely love the USP package on the A4. I'd really like to pick on up soon.

Higher mileage A4's you should look at a few major items to see if they have been replaced / need replaced
    • Timing Belt
    • Clutch
    • Turbo

Run a Carfax, ask for maintenance records. You want to make sure the car was properly maintained and taken care of.

How much is the car going for? What shape is it in?

Is this the car for sale at that small place on 23 north? I saw that a few weeks back and was very tempted to pick it up. I had a USP and it was the only Audi I had that I wished I held on to.

Thanks Joey, those were the biggies that I was aware of. One of my best friends (A4spoolin) did all of them within about 8 months of picking up his B5. I'm more curious about the quirky VW Group things I hear of with other Audis/VW's, like coil packs, carbon build up etc..

As so much as carfax, I can get the free one from the dealer, no major maintenance records. However I will call and ask them about all of that, and if none of that has been done, I feel I'll just have more bargaining power.

I really have to sit down and figure out if I want to have a car loan out. As annoying as my car is, its nice not to have to pay somebody else to hold onto my Title

Damn you Dave you found it! That is the exact one. I stopped at the dealership Sunday just because it was new (I haven't been back in the area in like 6 months) and was wandering around. It caught my eye because I have never seen a USP before and it looked CLEAN from my quick walk around. By chance I went to their website today and saw that they still had it.

Talking about Ramsey Corp. That is their new & second location. A few bad words come with their dealership. I've heard many things about their cars being salvaged titles, unwanted cars from bigger dealers, etc. Just a heads up and maybe something to look at.

This car seems to be too high priced for the miles. Is the beige headliner normal for the USP? Not sure if i care for that too much

That car has been for sale FOR EVER. I saw that thing when I was looking for my car last may.

Joey- beige headliner is stock, unfortunately. That's why I've been itching for an S4 one for some time.

Yea the miles are high. I WAS planning on going in guns blazing with the negotiation (because its been for sale forever, and might need a t-belt etc), but I read around Ramseycorp doesn't do much of that. This may be just a test-drive to see what its like kind of car now.

I'm coming back to Audi. We smashed up an 05 USP and now I'm suppose to pick up an 04 Avant USP this weekend. Very excited - there weren't any on Autotrader for sale. A couple of sedans though. Hope you join the USP club.

BTW, I rebought my 04 USP that I bought from Audizine a few years ago. Went through a pair of brothers and we bought that one back a few weeks ago. Weird buying back my car, but it was still in great condition with about 40k more miles.

^I found my old USP listed online and made an offer on it but didn't get it, its going to be hard for Audi to make another car with as much value as the USP. Glad you were able to get her back
