What kind of tool do you use to clean the actual carbon off the valves? Do you walk the motor so the valves are closed before going to work on a cylinder to prevent the carbon from falling in the cylinder? Can't imagine it would do any harm, but was just curious

Screw driver/scraper, BG product, wire brush and manual scrubbing is the best method to do it correctly.

We rotate the crank to close up the valves that are open. We'll do the ones that are closed first once those are cleaned we'll rotate the crank and start on the ones that were open. The cleaning is the most time consuming part.

Thanks for sharing the info on the cleaning, Kai!

It really must be a time consuming process with all of the valves and how there is a lack of space to get at them.

This particular car had 62K miles. It is the one of the worst buildup we've seen, def. in top two.

^lol. That would be funny. He'd have CB by the time he drove back!

Kai - the engine bay filth is unreal for one of the RS4's pictured above. Where the hell does that person live or did they go through a flood?! Look at the dirt (actualy dirt), mud, oil and gunk buildup. It almost looks like a flood vehicle. I heard you guys are offereing "detailing" services...I suggest you sell this guy and the provide a before and after engine bay shot.

Wow, that's the first time I've seen how bad the carbon build up can be. Although I wish my S4 was an RS4, I'm glad my S4 hoses down the valves with fuel!

Don't the audi dealerships offer a carbon cleaning service? Do they do something different?
