Default What Do Ya Think: A.W.E. Tuning Project B8 S4

Easier to quote it, and no discrepancies

While people love the big stuff, it’s some of the smaller modifications done to this car that really help set it apart. I wanted to take a second and talk about the pieces I’ve received a lot of compliments and questions about recently.

First, our Vent Mounted Boost Gauge Kit.

Monitoring boost pressure is important for any forced induction car, especially once you start modifying. We pioneered the vent mounted boost gauge concept and have continued it with our B8 S4 Vent Mounted Boost Gauge Kit.

The B8 S4 is a sophisticated European car and we knew that the fit, finish and design of this kit had to be perfect. Our Engineering Department did a great job of mirroring the backlighting and look of the factory gauges, giving our boost gauge an OE look.

During development of this kit we also engineered our V6T Boost Tap which provides a straightforward, bolt on way to tap into the factory boost source.

Next up, our Sport Pedal Set.

Our anodized aluminum Sport Pedal Cover Set comes with rubber nubs that will improve grip in all situations, not to mention they look killer. Available in Silver or Gunmetal Finishes.

Last but certainly not least, our EuroGEAR Carbon Fiber Accessories.

EuroGEAR’s Carbon Fiber enhancements are a total package; easy to install, perfect fit and great looks. Finally aftermarket Carbon Fiber pieces without any downsides…

We have their Front and Rear Splitters currently installed on our car and are in process with their newly released Carbon Fiber Rear Valance.

If you have any questions about any of the products mentioned here, shoot me a PM, I’d be happy to help. I love this car!

    Cheers!

I think it would look better without the stripes on the side. But cool project though. Cant wait to see what these cars can do with all of the mods that could be done.

Yea I'm not crazy about the stripes either, but it works better than I would imagine that they would. I can understand though as a Project Car why they would do it like that.

It's a branding thing. They've incorporated their logo on all their project vehicles. I think it works well, but I can see how others would be turned off by it.

stripes = fail (looks like a GM product from the 90s like a Z24 cavalier or something)
wheels = not right for the car (also looks like a GM product from the 90s)

I just can't wait to hear about their tune being available. It didn't surprise me at all when they dyno tested a B8 S4 with MTM tune (piggyback) earlier this year and said it dyno'd 0 WHP over stock. An MTM tuned B8 S4 walked the shit out of an E92 last year up to 120 mph on a BMW fan club's youtube channel...but it makes 0 power over stock? Don't think so.

Putting the MTM product's reputation in the hands of a competitor is never a good idea!

Did you read the MTM speculation thread? They're giving out refunds to people no questions asked, something is wrong with the tune... aka it doesn't work.

I think the wheels look awesome, that style seems to work with the B8 imo.

I felt the same way until I saw them in person. You can't see how concave they are in the pics. It changed my mind. Not the best looking wheels but the car looks good in person. No doubt.

FWIW after the 2nd time Dennis Duba from MTM in Germany remotely accessed my pc while it was hooked up to the cantronic and uploaded what was supposed to be their latest and greatest tune I raced kevkev9898 at waterfest. We were dead even. He was stock.

While remotely connected he verified that the unit was connected to the car properly and functioning properly.

I don't think it was a case of AWE's bias. Perhaps that dyno should have been higher but their design was flawed.

The cantronic product isn't a real mtm product it is licensed from another European company called Car Concepts.

    www.carconcepts.eu

check it out. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Well the only other time I've seen NUE's on B8's is the Roti avant and that's just sex.

who got a refund no questions asked?

I don't get that whole tune MTM problem. weird. Did you read the results of tuning V's car with an APR 93 tune? Ran 13.1...a.k.a. same as stock. Shows...can happen to any tuner. Sometimes it just doesn't want to work!

Anyone hear of any other MTM or ABT customers complaining? I mean if they're crushing M3s to the quarter mile post, they're making a bunch of power over stock. Are they not doing 1/4 mile runs or highway pulls in Europe? I just think it's a pretty interesting co-incidence that:

    a) Voltron's car when MTM'd runs basically a stock time
    b) primetime's car when APR'd runs basically a stock time
    c) Voltron's car when APR'd runs basically a stock time

I know there was a reason for the Primetime problem (something to do with APR messing up all the 91 and 100 tunes???) but I really find it a really interesting co-incidence that we have had 3 prominent B8 members run tuned where they (apparently) had zero gains over stock. Maybe there's something else going on with this car?

    b) Prime ran a 12.387@114.81MPH. That's a big improvement.
    c) Did you watch the video of Voltrons car? DSG FTL. Huge delay from first to second. Apparently there is a TSB for this.

He knows this, he quoted Ron's runs in another thread over a day ago. He likes to stir the pot by forgetting certain things in order to get controversy going.
