12.69 @ 108 with a 1.85 60 ft time... STOCK! He does have VMR rims.... not sure of the weight.... car is a 6-speed..... IMPRESSIVE! He is beating most of the tuned cars....

LOL! I figured the group over here may want to see it and since many of them seem against AZ I figured I would mention it.... He posted on AW as well.... Says he isn't a drag racer yet he seems pretty excited and created an account on AW just to post his results.... I bet he keeps going back which is good for us since he seems like a good driver and has a fast car so I am hoping he gets tuned, puts on an exhaust, etc and keep racing!

I think it had more to do with him being ballsy enough to do clutch dumps at 5K RPM's. I don't think he can do very many of those though.

Good point! I know Eurocode or their "driver" said the clutch as going bad which is why they hadn't gotten to the track....

Richi, Are you upgrading your clutch while your motor and tranny are out of the car? Just curious....

Yea they said they need to upgrade their clutch (and I would assume also the flywheel, or at least resurface it if they have blown through a clutch already), that it lacks good grip with the extra power.

that's an awesome result. Flatland Florida got a nice cold spell, so it's great that someone got to the track in good conditions. -700 is hilarious. I ran -300 I think last November.

I think Road and Track was aggressive as well when they ran 12.9 stock. Something like 4000?

edit, yes: 4000rpm. They called it 'clutch friendly'. I thought that was funny. I guess they've never owned a TorSen AWD Audi before. Either that or MickF29 taught them how to launch.

Where's DaveD to quote the M3 quarter mile times when you need him...because clearly nickS was high on something when he posted about that 'kill'. This was back in October when he was struggling to beat 13.0 with his problematic ADS.

Anyway.... I ran against an E92 M3 this morning and punished him. We ran on an open stretch of road, two lanes and NO ONE in front of us for miles. I easily put 4-5 car lengths on him and I shut it down after 120mph. We started out at about 45mph... don't really remember. When I looked at the speedo the first time I was already in the 65mph range.

I will say that it's nice and cool here this morning so I had an advantage as far as cold, dense air goes. Good race..... he gave me a thumbs up before we parted ways. So not every BMW drivers is a douche!

NickS then went to the dragstrip shortly after this and ran 12.9. ROFLCOPTER

4-5 car lengths in a 45-120 pull would be about 5-6 car lengths in the quarter mile assuming similar launches. Since he's in a quattro equipped S4, one might argue it would be better.

1 car length for these type of cars is equivalent to about 1 tenth...i.e. he's saying he'd beat an M3 by about 5-6 tenths in the quartermile. i.e. the E9X M3 he raced runs about 13.5 in the quartermile. MMMMM....yeah.

Other than PT I don't think there have been any stock dsg runs better than ~13.2 which I think is around your times iirc. Should be a good race. Have fun.

Brendon ran a 12.6 which is currentlt the best documented dsg 93 oct run.

Well we were going to go this Saturday, but looks like that isn't going to happen. Its just too far to drive the B8 S4 on straight race gas. Plus the local track here will be open on the 20th of this month, so we will have to wait till then. I need to get my A4 ready to take it to the track on the following day (21st) which is Battle of the Imports.

the car hasnt been to the track, the motor is out of the car and they have been doing minor revisions on the passenger side header. plus also some other r&d that'll pay off in the end

They kept saying 'it's too hot'...then it was 'clutch can't hold all the power'. Clutch seems to work pretty well for the other B8 S4 guys.

So I guess they put a new clutch in? I mean...it's 4 months. They missed the absolute best weather (in California).

They did not put a new clutch in yet because the car had been sitting at another shop having something made. They never got around to putting a clutch in their B8 A4 either. Just hasn't been top priority for them.

I would have loved to have seen them put a clutch in by now so we could have got back to the track.

Weather is still good here in CA, today it is only in the low 70's.

When I ran those 2 B8's that still had a stock clutch neither of them would hold a hard launch and would pretty much slip down the whole track. After they both did that a few times it just wasn't worth sitting in line for hr each time to make another pass. Plus just over half way thru the day a pro mod car crashed, this means that it was going to be another 2-3 hrs before we got to run again. Have been waiting for those 2 cars to get stronger clutch kits installed to run them again, 1 problem is not till lately has anyone actually offered a clutch for the B8 S4 and A4. It is not your normal type of clutch/flywheel thats for sure.

Yes because the clutch was slipping down the whole track causing the rpms to bounce even while in 3rd and 4th gear. Even on the street the owners of the cars could get the clutch to slip now and then. Both cars were just making too much power for the cars to be driven hard at the drag strip and get a good run in.

How do you turn off both. I tried this on the car yesterday. Held the ESP button for 5+ seconds and it said ESP off. Took the engine to 4k and the ECU kept cutting the throttle.

I can say one thing though, the stock clutch cant hold a aggressive launch for crap with the tube headers and APR race tune. It even slipped like crazy while launching at a standing 3500 rpm launch and then WOT after the car got rolling. It will need a much stronger clutch if we are going to take it to the track. Now we just have to get someone to make one for the B8 S4. lol

Yes and if I took it to the track to run a time worth talking about it would in fact need a stronger clutch. Get over it and move one.
