...i dunno man. i wouldnt be too keen on pushing that blower a whole lot further... its still early in the game for you guys but someone REALLY FUCKING NEEDS to come out with a blower upgrade. either port it or jump up to a r1900. i have a feeling this is going to end up like the PES and VF setups for the B6/7's. spin a tiny little blower a hell of a lot faster than it should be and while they dyno great, they make too much heat and dont perform.

Well one of the board members at APR has had this pulley and tune for a little over a year on his car. Runs great no issues. APR is also in the end production stages of a larger intercooler from what I see on the boards Im guessing its to combat the extra heat from the quicker spinning of the blower. When that is released I cant wait to see the numbers. Im holding off for that and program switching. APR is pretty good with testing their products on thier own test cars for a long time before releasing to the public so Im sure this intercooler / cooling upgrade has already been proven for a while. I dont work for them nor do I even have the stage 1 tune lol I am just going from others experiences and seeing and knowing very happy customers. I see us having 420-450 awhp soon. Right now we are in the 370-390 awhp range.. Not too shabby.

the stock engine can probably handle 450 whp pretty easily considering that's what the B6/7 appear to handle before getting into trouble

however you have to realise something - 450 whp is probably the equivalent of about 550 crank hp...and to make 550 crank hp you need to flow about 900 CFM of air. The TVS1320 just flat can't do this, ported or not so I think you'll need a blower swap to make that power.

Still, who cares. If you guys can push 400whp with a great curve that's a serious performer. I raced a tuned/decatted/catback/18" wheel B8 S4 on the weekend. I have a pretty strong running B7 and he put 2-2.5 cars on me from 50-120, and if we went any higher he would have pulled more as he was really getting his legs over 100mph.

It should be noted though that on pump gas, I imagine these tuned+ + cars are making 330-350 whp, not 370-390. That's a bit of a stretch. At the end of the day it can dyno all it wants, but if it's not performing, who cares. Lou dyno'd 290 whp. Some guy on Audizine dyno'd 330 whp yesterday pretty much stock. That makes no sense and shows that FI + dynos = wonky numbers.

If the car I raced was really making 370-390 whp, I'd expect him to put 10 car lengths on me from 50-120, not 2 or 3. My car might make 290-300 whp if it's lucky. Right before my races, he lost by 1-2 car lengths to a stage III B5 a whole bunch of times. That stage III B5 is a conservatively tuned Avant.

S5 or RS4 with JHM blower for me, the forged internals in both will let them push the big centripetal blower harder

APR is not pushing the blower even to Eaton's stated RPM limit and trust me it is a conservative rating... Is it moving towards a less efficient area sure but the extra boost is not just hot air at the elevated levels... A port will make this blower much more efficient... There is a ways to go with this car from a cooling standpoint with a serperate coolant loop that can be kept much cooler... a larger inlet track which always helps positive displacement blower cars... further tuning... a HFC that works or headers... head work to flow more... cams... weight reduction... etc...

Still I would prefer a bigger blower... LOL However, the R1900 from Eaton won't work, now the R1650 will quite easily, but Eaton doesn't currently have a customer for that blower, key word being currently...

Agreed... 450whp will require going into the motor or a blower upgrade... David's car(81bear) has the HFC's it's not catless... The actually are taking power away... Can't believe his DSG f***ed him... Like you said who cares about dyno numbers(I'll have some soon! LOL) strip times tell much more... Pulley times soon!

word...4.2 = instatorque, great feel, great sound. Just an interesting engine for a daily driver. JHM/Vortech Blown 4.2? Even better.

Consider this regarding the TVS1320 and the 3.0T

last Friday a stage III B5 S4 with VAST tune and frankenturbos put 1-2 car lengths on a B8 S4 with high flow cats, catback, APR 93 tune and 18" LW wheels. This was on 50-120 pulls. B5 won every time.

the Friday before that, the same stage III B5 S4 ran against an RS4 with a TVS1320 and a JHM tune + exhaust. The RS4 put an absolute mugging on the B5, walking away in every single gear on every single pull. 2-3 cars on every pull, and 4-6 cars on runs from a dig. Put the Vortech on that RS4? Good god it would be a massacre.

    This shows something.

    4.2 + 1320 > 3.0 + 1320

However it really shows that JHM tuning is far better than APR tuning...and if you buy a 3.0T you'll always be stuck with APR tuning (or the like) as JHM is focusing on the 4.2 and maybe 5.2 cars. I guess that's why APR brought in JHM to tune the RS4 blower cars when they failed to run better than 12.70.

    again...blown 4.2 + JHM tuning FTW.
