    Default CPS Installed...

Had the full CPS system installed over the last two days... Picked it up this afternoon... Dealership did a nice job at a very fair price... Decided not to do it myself becuase of having to purge the system...

Hard to say about results as I drove the car home from the dealer and pretty much got stuck in traffic... IAT's did stay in the high 60's low 70's even sitting for minutes in traffic... They dropped rapidly once driving at a consistent pace... again need to get more data but very promising... will do logging in the morning/sunday...

The HE is huge compared to stock(see pics)... No doubt the system is well setup...

Few things I noticed... The pump runs for quite a while after the car is off(30 seconds) and kicked on a while after the car was off, opening the door or hood causes it to kick on... was gonna talk to APR about this... I think it is a good thing but did't expect it... The dealership said they bled the system well but I checked before I left and the (HE)reservoir was full but when I got home it needed some coolant... I added maybe a 1/4 cup... I then started the car and watched the system... Low and behold it does circulate coolant through the tiny reservoir... I will be upgrading to a larger one soon... Not too much space but I could get something bigger... want to look at using the windsheild washer fluid tank as well...

Sorry not the greatest pics... had stuff to do when I got home and it gets dark much sooner now.. LOL I'll take some during the day... The HE takes up the whole front grill... need to do the screen mod asap... I'll post some logs in a few days... strip Wed. and Sat. next week... Let me know if you have any ?'s... later Ron

cool stuff, time to make some distilled water/G12++ ice cubes? haha... looking forward to the logs, I think it'd be cool to attempt to quantify the improvement in IAT recovery... basically heat soak the hell out of the car and then roll out and hit it and see the rate of change in IAT before and after.

Thanks man! Yeah Joel, from APR made it sound as if the reservior didn't need to be bigger as the coolant wasn't circulating through it so a bigger one in which ice could be introduced wouldn't work... My 99 GT has a Vortech aftercooler with a rather large coolant tank... I use solo cups to make huge chunks of ice that fit perfectly in the reservior... so I get to the track open the petcock on the tank and drain half the fluid and throw in 4 cups of ice right at the line... drops my IAT's 10c+ from just a normal pass... That's worth a tenth on a low 11 second street tire car... I may either make or buy a larger custom tank for the S...

Yeah I will do some various logs Sunday... I have some pre CPS logs I did on purpose in 75-85 weather for comparison... I also have 3 strip visits in various conditions... I'll get some decent comparisons... There really is no arguing this product though, the HE is HUGE... the pump pushes the coolant like a mother fu****, it's loud... It's a good mod on this car for many reasons...

Sak, here is what I just posted on AW... wanted to hit the strip but it didn't happen... I will 100% be going Wed.

Did a lot of data logging yesterday...

It was 85 degrees, 70% humidity, and a 29.94 BP... In other words horrible conditions... LOL

I'll start with highway driving... Drove 10 miles at 65mph w/o much throttle variation and in 7th gear... Temps stayed very consistent at 33C - 36C... This is a slight improvement over stock where I used to see 38-40C while driving and the numbers I had when I tested the weather was better but still pretty warm, so in worse conditions the car actually performed better...

Then I got off the highway and let the car idle for 2 minutes while watching the IAT's... They immediately started to rise as I expected since there was no airflow and after 2 minutes they had risen to 52C from 35C when I first stopped... For me this is an important number since you are often forced to have your car running but barely moving in the staging lanes at the strip... I try to minimize this time but it usually happens... Unfortunately, I didn't test the same process pre-install so if someone with a vagcom wants to I would appreciate it... I would assume it would rise in a simliar fashion and maybe a little more given the amount the new pump runs to circulate the coolant...

I then did a bunch of stop and go city driving with varying speeds... IAT's stayed in the mid 40C range to mid 50C range... I did get caught at a light that takes a few minutes and was even worse because off a firetruck coming through thus making me wait for two cycles of the light w/o moving... It was probably 3+ minutes of sitting and the temps got into the mid 60's but as soon as I started moving they dropped back into the 50's...

Finally, I did a few WOT blasts to try and simulate drag racing however I only went up to 70-80 since I was on the street... Temps started in the 40c range and rose to low 50c range... For a comparison when I made 4 passes at the strip on a 80 degree day the IAT's started at 60c and climbed to low 80's by then end of the pass with an average of 73.3c, however the car was much warmer to start obviously with the starting IAT's in the 60c range...

Not the best testing but those are my observation at this point... I will have a better indication of the results once I make some passes since that is where I have the most data to compare to... I do believe the system helps given the huge increase in size and surface area of the HE and the added pump that is pushing alot more coolant through the system... I can say that the temps go down much quicker when driving from a stop and go up much slower while sitting at a light...

Also, if you plan on doing this mod be advised that the pump runs alot... open the driver door pump runs 30 seconds, open the hood the pump runs for 30 seconds, etc... I like this but it is loud and I know some would probably get annoyed by this...

Let me know if there are any questions/comments...

    still looks pretty neat.

I don't think it'll make you any faster obviously, but it will help stop you from getting slower on your third or fourth pass/pull

looking forward to seeing more info. I could log my friend's B8 if you want, although he's a manual car.

Yeah it is a nice system... I could see it helping if it allows more timing advance based on the lower IAT's... also to your point it should be more consistent... If you get time and feel like making some logs that would be cool... Just hoping the rain stays away Wed. so I can finally hit the strip... temps are looking good...
