Default So.... back from the dragstrip... new best!

Decided to hit the strip today as I wanted to test my new custom intake... conditions weren't very good and I wasn't optimistic... On top of that my laptop took a dump Friday so I couldn't log...

Car: 2010 Audi S4 - DSG with sports dif, 5,300 miles, 3/8 tank of gas(grrrr), tools and spare in the car(bigger grrrr)

Mods: 100 octane tune, pulley, LFC's, miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, larger HE, additional coolant pump, coolant seperator, front and rear sways, BBS CHR's

    Conditions: 71F, 70% humidity, 30.07 BP.... DA was 2,350+

So conditions were a little worse than last time out when I got only one pass and ran a 12.23

Got there about 9:00 and made my first pass at a little after 10am...

    1.7113 60 ft (new best)
    ????? 330 ft
    7.7506 1/8 ET (new best)
    90.83 1/8 MPH
    10.0829 1000 ft ET
    12.0428 1/4 ET (new best)
    116.49 1/4 MPH

    1.7662 60 ft
    5.0928 330 ft
    7.8033 1/8 ET
    90.65 1/8 MPH
    10.1355 1000 ft ET
    12.0992 1/4 ET
    115.92 1/4 MPH

    1.7280 60 ft
    5.0863 330 ft
    7.8118 1/8 ET
    90.63 1/8 MPH
    10.1538 1000 ft ET
    12.1227 1/4 ET
    115.62 1/4 MPH

Extremely happy, but kicking myself for not taking out the spare and tools and showing up with 3/8 tank of fuel vs 1/8... I would have surely got the damn 11 second slip... Given conditions though I am stoked... The intake allowed me to p/u almost .2 and almost 2mph... I am very happy with my creation!

Here is the slip... I have a gopro vid from in the car and will post later... No out of car video as my brother couldn't make it... He will be there next time when I go 11.xx

    Questions/comments/thoughts....

Thanks! Yeah the 60 is getting down there... Would like to hit a 1.6x which should be doable with good weather...

Just got the intake on and I didn't get any pics... Weather got shitty after I got home yesterday and my garage is too dark to take good pics... will get some one night this week and post them up... basically it is a system I cobbled together... mostly strat parts with a different tube, connectors, and some black DEI Titanium Header Exhaust Wrap... looks good and perfoms well as the intake was barely warm to the touch let alone hot...

Pretty impressive 1/4 mile time you have there! The 60ft time is also looking really good. Would like to see what you can do with less weight and ideal conditions

Thanks! Will be back several times over the next month... Thompson stays open through Nov. weather permitting... 11.5 was what I was shooting for but I will need some more mods as it has a ways to go... IMO given what I saw last year with DA improvements and how much extra weight I had yesterday, I think 11.7-11.8 @118-119 is realistic as the car sits... If I can get the blower ported maybe a little better... Still not sold on the Eurocode headers yet since no one posts #'s I'll keep the forum updated and will see how it turns out... later Ron

just look at the RS4/S5 with the APR blower (TVS1320) kits for a goal. They ran 11.8-11.9 with JHM's tune on there on 93 octane. You should be able to get close to that (maybe 12.1-12.2 fully modded) on 93 considering you're down 40% on displacement for those 2-3 tenths, and probably 11.85-11.90 on racegas. The racegas seems like it makes up for the displacement vs them on pump.

I'd like to see you get a tank of 93 and go run the APR93 file one day. Any chance? Then we can compare you to the other guys times...and put to rest the 'primetime has a factory freak' stuff. I think everyone else just goes to the strip once or twice...while you go once or twice a month. Look at last month...you were 2 tenths slower...and really conditions weren't dissimilar. IF you were one of the 'only go once' guys, you'd think that's the best a car can do on racegas. Of course if you look at your times this week, it's quite different!

Good shit PT. That car is maniacally fast considering the modlist is so frigging simple. I mean these are VERY basic boltons.

Saki, Sounds reasonable... However, I know you probably won't agree but the intake I just added is 100% helping... Not down low but up top... I plan to do some additional testing/logging to prove this... IMO my traps have been down all year and I have been running mostly the stock intake since ECS dynoed my car... I think the intake that I have setup is working very well... The car wasn't getting enough air up top...

Anyway, I haven't sent the ECU back in as I was hoping APR would visit Stratmosphere this year and I would just drive there for the updated tune and hopefully Richi would go so we could get some runs in... If they don't announce soon I'll send it in and I have no problem going on 93 tune...

It is supposed to be 52F here Sat. but slight chance of rain... If it doesn't rain I am there in what should be 1200-1500 DA's... Will see what happens...

Very Nice 60' time. A 1.7 in that car is very good driving. You should have no problems getting into 11's. Nice work.

as I've said a few times, I have no idea what works or doesn't work on the B8...your intake could be a brilliant design. All my previous intake comments were based on

    a) past intakes on S models NOT working
    b) current intakes on S models showing sketchy data at best

There are definitely some restrictions still on your car to unleash more efficiency. That blower, while small, is pretty fantastic. It can move a ton of air, so as I've said a few times, if you can make sure your entire system is efficient as possible (intake side + exhaust manifolds + downpipes or whatever you guys call them, cats, catback...everything is a potential red light) you'll do really well. The RS4 that JHM tuned with the TVS1320 blower in Detroit is an axe murderer with that little blower. It ran 12.0 with stock exhaust at 116-117 mph. Now that car has a stage 5 clutch and LW fw, and a full 2.75" catless exhaust. I watched it ANNHILLATE a stage III VAST tuned/fuelled B5 S4 a few months back. Both the RS4 and your B8 S4 will be limited at the top end by the blower. If you can approach what that car can do, it's pretty awesome.

As for racing Richie, I'm sure he'll be up for it. Just make sure you sign a disclaimer that you won't talk about the race, and make sure that there are no cameras around. Also make sure you only run from 100mph and up as the 'clutch can't handle all the power' in the EuroCode cars. I think that's in his contract with EuroCode.

Doesn't anyone else find that ridiculous? It's an exhaust mod that makes 30hp if you believe the dynos (no reason not to)...but it doesn't make 150 wtq over stock. Why the heck are the clutches unable to handle the power? I mean if SOBZ can go to the strip tuned with exhaust and LW wheels, and cut 1.8 60 foot times, why can't the eurocode guys? If guys can run 100 octane tune on manual cars (a.k.a. WAY more power than a headers car on 91 or 93) and not fry the clutch, why can't eurocode cars? They're just playing games. They think the B8 forum is dumb enough to believe that 30 hp over a tuned 93 car will roast the clutch making quarter mile times impossible. Let's think...how much is peak HP a factor on your launch from a stand still? Very little. It's all about torque.

No. What they mean to say is that the times they have run are SHIT and they don't want them public.

Thanks! Intake is basically a custom tube out of a lighter and more heat resistant material... pretty much the same dimensions as the strat one, but working on a larger mouthed one that will taper, Dei 010108 Black Exhaust Header Heat Wrap, some different connectors and the rest strat parts(heat shield, filter, small filter, tube extender, etc...) Shitty weather but I snapped a garage pic... I'll get some better ones... Works very well and the wrap keeps temps way down... Tapered one will be even better, I think...

Thanks man! I sure hope so... had such good results each time out last year and this year has been more of a struggle... Not complaints though as it's a great car that runs very well...

Yeah, custom intake... steel just retains too much heat... Well unfortunately I just got word rained out all weekend... sigh... Rained like everyday here the last week... Going to take the V at least once this year? Oh how is the business coming? Hope it is going well for you...
