Default Just all about BEER thread

What are your favorites and why?
    Microbrews?
    Craft?

    Seasonals

    Brewers?

I am getting into beers big time now and found a distributor nearby so Im trying out a variety pack a week and then a 6 pack of different stuff a week afterwards. Right now I have Magic Hat variety pack in my fridge.

My go to at bars- Amstel Light
I enjoy- Guiness, Delirium Tremens, Bud Light, and Magic Hat # 9 is a nice brew. I felt Becks Oktoberfest was ok but prob wont do again. And I dislike the Sam Adams Boston Lager (odd I know seems everyone loves that)

    Make me some recommendations.

I also plan on trying out a deep dark chocolate stout

I will give just about anything a try. I really like IPA's and Light Beers...

Favorite Seasonal is Sam Adam's Nobel Pills. It must be a draft though, hate it out of the bottle.

Also on my list of favorites:

    Blue Moon
    Landshark
    Bud Lite Lime
    Corona
    Magic Hat #9
    Hogarden
    Stella

    Some Favorites-
Russian River Pliny the Elder IPA
    Russian River Damnation
    Weyerbacher Merry Monks
    St Bernardus Abt 12
    Delirium Tremens
    Sierra Nevada Summerfest
    Redhook Long Hammer

Devils Den in South Philly has one of the best beer lists I have ever seen. Over a dozen beers on tap and a whole lot more in bottles. You won't find Bud, Coors, or Miller anywhere in there. Food is pretty damn good. It's right around the corner from Pats and Genos. If you like the taste of real beer, definitely hit it up if you're anywhere near Philly.

I tend to like dark, more robust beers. I don't have the taste for bitter hoppy beers (hoppy but not bitter is good). Some of my faves include belhaven scottish stout, kona pipeline porter, otter creek stovepipe porter & copper ale, harpoon munich dark, white, hef & pumpkin UFOs, city steam dark lager, farmhouse ale, naughty nurse & unfiltered witbier, Wachusett milk stout, ryde & pumpkin, gaslight pirate pale ale and wit bier, BBC coffeehouse porter. That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

Always remember that beers on tap>>>>>>>>>>>>bottles.

If anyone is in the Boston area this weekend, this sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately I'll be working so I won't be there.

Tickets for Samuel Adams OctoberFest in Boston from ShowClix

Still drinking Sam Adams Summer Ale and Newcastles here.

And the occasional Devastator if I am out for the night.

Other than that, I have pretty well stuck to Wine and Vodka this summer.....

It you want a nice stout there is one out of Detroit from Atwater brewery, their Vanila Chocolate Stout is pretty decent. New Belgium's 1554 is very good too and has a nice chocolate stout type flavor, a little lighter than many stouts.

    Christmas presents from a friend.

There was a St Bernardus Christmas Ale also, but I drank that on Christmas.

For quantity over quality I go with Coors Light.
    Absolute favorite beer is Yuengling.
And I'll pretty much try any beer out there. Have a lot of friends that homebrew so being a taste tester for them is always fun.

    I like my IPAs mostly.

Torpedo, Dogfish Head 60 minute and 90 minute, Stone Ruination, Loose Cannon

Lambics are always great for the girls that say they hate beer.

I went to Yard House for the first time last night and they have a great beer list. Everyone is also allowed two samples off the menu. If you live near one I'd say it's worth checking out for the beer. I hear the food is delicious as well but I can't confirm that statement.

Found a new favorite beer that i had on tap the other day:

21st Amendment: Allies Win the War

Brewed out in CA. This upscale bar by me had it on tap. Never saw it before and loved the name so i gave it a try. Definitely my new favorite. Went over to my local liquor store and surprisingly found out they have it in cans. Little expensive though... 4 pack for $10... Ouch
