Default Cadillac needs to change their ads

Porsche's intense rivalry with Nissan over Nurburgring lap times may have cooled off in recent months, but a new rivalry appears to be in the works, this time with Cadillac and the CTS-V. A report emerging from Germany today has the Panamera Turbo lapping the Nurburgring in 7:56 minutes - just over 3 seconds faster than the American uber-sedan.

It would also mean taking the mantle as fastest lap time for a production sedan, since the CTS-V holds that title now. Porsche hasn't confirmed the time reported by Sport Auto, nor has it released its own times for the car, so it will remain to be seen if this is the final word.

Still, the possibility of the next round of super-sedans taking the title from the current $59,995 Cadillac CTS-V by mere seconds goes to show just how far Cadillac has pushed the performance-per-dollar value equation, especially considering the Panamera Turbo, at $132,600, is the least expensive of the super-sedan set, which also includes the Aston Martin Rapide and Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S.
Glad to see the CTS-v being taken out of the spot light it never deserved, esp since the RS4 put up a better ring time as well.

I agree, I'm tired of hearing about Caddy's. They need to go back to what they do best. Large boat sized, grandpa mobiles. Let the German guys do what they do best.....

I don't see why any of us would want Caddy to step back from the performance game. The way I see it even if I don't want to drive a Caddy by making the Germans compete with motors like the LS series we'll see better cars down the road. Like domestics or not the LS series motors set the bar for a high performance engine. If you compared the motor from a C6 corvette to the 4.2FSI I'm pretty sure the LS beats up on it in every imaginable way. It comes with more power stock, gets way better fuel economy, is simpler, lighter, will hold more power when modded, ect...
Competition drives innovation, and I'm all for the German engineers having to try harder to stay ahead.

I think it's good that an American car is finally being seen as a good performance car. I really like the CTS-V...but that's about the only Cadillac. All of their other "V" vehicles aren't that great, in my opinion at least. Although I do agree that they should really change their ads for it now....I don't care if the Panamera Turbo is over twice as much, it still put down a faster time than the CTS-V.

I also agree with DuncanC; competition really does cause motivation.

The Taurus is the only one worth mentioning imo; the damn Caddy needs over 6 liters and a supercharger to even *get close* to anything else in the category.

On a side note, it is good to see the Lockheed-Martin team that designed the stealth fighter now gainfully employed at Cadillac designing exterior sheet metal.

Although the end result is FUGLY!
