Default 2008 Audi TT 3.2l Quattro aftermarket parts

I sadly have to get rid of my 2000 Mustang GT and get a car that can drive in the winter as well. I still want a sports car though so I’ve decided on an AWD 2008 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro convertible with magnetic ride. The only thing that I really don’t like about the Audi is that it seems really hard to find aftermarket parts for them. Mustangs have 1000’s of parts, websites, and magazines just for the mustang but just finding a CAI or aftermarket exhaust for a 2008 3.2l Audi seems to be very difficult. So basically I’m here asking you guys to help me out by listing any good audi websites, magazines or better forums. Sorry this is so long and thanks for any help you can give.

He made up for it and posted the link, so it cancels out his attitude.

Wow all this for a simple question? I feel so welcomed already in the Audi TT community. Just for the record I did do a search on your name and found a bunch of posts by you but not that one. Sorry and thank you for the link.

Theyre just busting balls! A lot of the members on here have known each other for a long time so they banter quite a bit! You made a great choice on the new car, when are you picking it up?

I haven’t purchased one yet but I’ve pretty much narrowed my list of cars down to the Audi tt. I wanted a sporty car that was a convertible and good for the horrible winters we have in erie, PA. Unless you guys can think of anything better I’m looking to buy in September.

^Thats a solid choice in that size, the only other options to consider would be an A4 or S4 convertible. You're not going to beat quattro for the winters we get!

Yeah those were some of my choices. I was looking at the A4 but there are a lot around the erie area and I wanted something different. The S4 is nice especially with the V8 but its still a bigger, heavier 4 seater and I don't like the look of em that much. I was also thinking about a 2009 eclipse but I don't like the look of them that much either, the audi has a way better interior and there a few around erie to. The only real downside to the tt is I personally think its underpowered. It should at least have 300hp. The other thing is im sure it's going to be more expensive to service and fix if anything does go wrong outside of the warranty.

I would love the TTS or RS but its impossible to find them anywhere near me. I'm already going to have to drive about 4 hours or more to find a decent 2008 TT. I also need the price to be $35000 or less. Donations anyone??

that price tag is a good goal, as you can def find a 3.2 with that price tag and lower, BUT finding a manual transmission is a whole different story, i tried and well i caved in and got a S-tronic

but i will advise you, the TT AWD system is Haldex, different from the a4 system, which is torsen, i would wikipedia them and decide if you want a TT from there as a winter warrior. They handle and drive differently

Yeah I’ve done a lot of research and I've found a lot of nice ones for 32 and up so I won't have a problem finding one for 35 or less. I just wish I could find them closer to me though. For some reason no one has any tt’s around the erie area. If I’m remembering correct the Haldex system is more front wheel drive and then sends the power to the rear wheels when the front wheels are slipping. That’s fine with me. I mainly need a car that can drive in the winter but don't want to give up the sports car look and summer fun.

The first TT I drove in the winter was my '03 225. I only had it for a year, but with a set of winter tires it was one of the most dependable cars I've ever driven in the winter.

The TTS has seen two winters now. Again, with winter tires it is extremely capable and a ton of fun in the snow. I actually preferred driving in the winter over the S4 Avant that I owned alongside it two winters back.

wow, i feel different, not sure if our cars vary, but when i drove my parents DD, b8 a4, it felt way more secure with its all season versus my winter dedicated 18" set. not sure, but anything AWD is better than no AWD

I had a mk2 tt 3.2 6MT. Actually traded it in for my b8 s4. Believe it or not the S4 is ALOT better in the snow than the TT was. (NY winters suck!) The TT was a fun car. All you need is a rear sway bar and springs and you will be the happiest man alive!! Just don't expect it to handle well in the snow. Since its front based i have lose steering capability with less than 10% throttle. Winter tires helped but not much.

What ever you decide to get, I wish you good luck!

    ^^^ imagine that!

p.s. TJ, flaming anyone for not searching here is kinda hard to do...the search (basic search) is broken, so everyone gets a pass till dave or joey fix it

on the subject of the TT...wouldn't you guys be tempted to get one with a 2.0T and then big(ger) turbo it, vs. getting a TTS? I believe the TTS is just a 2.0T with a K04...isn't it? I'm a little green on the TT.

take a TT load it up with options and its more than TTS. plus the TTS is the FSI block with reinforcements, vs the TSI block, which, you know, isnt

Come on saki, I didn't flame, just a wake up call, in my defense, the mod options thread was the first thread in the TT forum when the ct posted this thread, call it being blind or negligence, but dont say I was flaming when I posted the link right after that post.

As for the TT vs TTS, in the defense of TT owners, the first 2 years the 2.0T was offered, it was offered only as a FWD TT and to get the Quattro, you would have to get the 3.2 VR6. As far as the internals btw the two, well the K03 vs K04 seems to the highlighting factor. But better internals like a pump, and stronger internals, sportier and better handling suspension, less turbo lag, and better looking car in general. there are more which I don't know off the top of my head and also posting from my BB. Ill def post later with a sum of differences btw the two.
